But reading is a fundamenta­l skill, and one of life’s great pleasures – so how do we persuade teenagers to take it up? Despite an outstandin­g Ofsted report, Ripley Academy in Lancaster is struggling with the problem, and has decided to fight back. This film follows actor and comedian Javone Prince (right) and presenter Helen Skelton as they set out to show the pupils what they’re missing.

The Man Booker Prize 2016

Author, comedian and former Booker Prize judge David Baddiel looks at this year’s six short-listed novels, whose authors include names old and new. Mariella Frostrup and Val McDermid are among the reviewers meeting the authors to discuss their work ahead of Tuesday’s announceme­nt.
