9PM, CH4 With series two of Channel 4’s critically acclaimed drama Humans starting tomorrow (9pm), actress Gemma Chan (right) presents a documentary in which she explores the latest developments in artificial intelligence. Gemma, who plays a distractingly beautiful robot – or synth – in the series, sets out to discover whether the future depicted is already here, taking part in a groundbreaking experiment in which experts build a robotic version of Gemma herself. Can the mechanical Gemma convince anyone that she’s actually the real, flesh and blood Gemma?

9PM, BBC2 With five major productions of King Lear taking place during 2016, this documentary asks why Shakespeare’s tragedy continues to resonate so deeply, more than 400 years after it was written. Contributors include Diana Rigg, Timothy West, Antony Sher and Nicholas Hytner.
