9PM, BBC2 In the final episode, Giles Coren and Monica Galetti visit the Swedish village of Jukkasjarvi, 125 miles north of the Arctic Circle; in December, the sun stays below the horizon, and the temperature drops to -30˚C. Carved from ice and snow in this magical but inhospitable landscape, the Icehotel melts with the thaw each spring and is rebuilt. But why, wonder Giles and Monica, do guests pay up to £1,000 a night to sleep in a bed made of ice, in a room kept at a bone-chilling -5˚C? There’s only one way to find out.
