It seems good things really do come in small packages. In Nature’s Miniature Miracles, narrated by Hugh Dennis, we meet the tiny creatures – from hummingbirds to hermit crabs – that face huge obstacles in the animal kingdom, but have developed extraordinary skills to overcome them.
If you want drama... THREE GIRLS Tuesday-Thursday, 9pm, BBC1
This powerful drama tells the desperate true story of three girls drawn into the frightening world of sexual exploitation in the north of England. Maxine Peake and Lesley Sharp play two women who were instrumental in getting the girls’ voices heard in an important story that is, by its very nature, not an easy watch.
If you want inspiration... A TIME TO LIVE Wednesday, 9pm, BBC2
For this moving documentary, the film-maker Sue Bourne set out to talk to people with a terminal illness. But this isn’t a film about death, but one about life, as we hear from people (including Nigel, right) who are determined to cherish their final days. Rather than being depressing, it’s uplifting and inspiring.
If you want soap stars... KAT & ALFIE: REDWATER Thursday, 8pm, BBC1
EastEnders favourites Kat and Alfie Moon (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) leave the confines of Albert Square behind them for this enjoyable six-part drama. The couple’s destination is the sleepy Irish village of Redwater, on a quest to find Kat’s long-lost son.
If you want comedy... COUNT ARTHUR STRONG Friday, 8.30pm, BBC1
Back for a new series comes the incorrigible Count Arthur (Steve Delaney), the former variety star with delusions of grandeur, who brings chaos with him wherever he goes. As we rejoin the Count and his friends, Arthur has developed an unlikely interest in the spirit world.
