ABOUT TO BE SHOPPED?

It’s one thing to go off the rails, quite another to have a train wreck of a life. Having played Mother Teresa to all and sundry for months, it’s the moment for Whitney (pictured) to enjoy a bit of me time. After receiving a letter from Lee’s lawyer about a divorce, she needs a distraction and tells Johnny she’s going shopping. But when she forgets her purse and Woody sets off to find her, he’s unprepared for what he sees at the shopping centre. Methinks she won’t be at the Apple Genius bar discussing the merits of the MacBook Air.

I’m unconvinced by Denise’s continuing financial woes, and now she’s forced to visit the food bank. You can’t tell me that in Albert Square, where everyone is fairm-ly, that someone can’t throw her a pizza slice.

Kim, meanwhile, holds a meeting about the community centre being closed down. Hooflamin’-ray, I say; community centres are the kiss of death in soapland. The one in Walford is especially bad, giving locals the chance to drone on even more than they normally do.

It’s a stressful week for Ian as he struggles to maintain his healthy lifestyle. Jane suggests he joins a slimming club (oh no, please not a reason to keep the community centre open) and she’s shocked to see him enthusiastically go for a run – a very fast one, to escape her nagging, I shouldn’t wonder. Will a visit to the doctor put paid to his well-laid plans, though? Expect to see oven fries in the chip shop anytime soon.
