Count Arthur Strong
8.30PM, BBC1
While still at drama school, Steve Delaney came up with the character of Count Arthur Strong, the semi-retired musichall performer with delusions of being a showbiz legend. In 2005, his successful touring of Arthur on the comedy circuit led to Radio 4 giving him his own show; it was a smash hit. And then, in 2013, Arthur made the long overdue transition to the small screen with this sitcom, co-starring Rory Kinnear as Michael, the writer son of Arthur’s former comedy partner. As series three begins, Arthur ‘accidentally’ agrees to perform an exorcism.
