IN HIS OWN WORDS: Will Smith

As Will Smith, 48, plays Deadshot in the superhero adventure Suicide Squad (8pm, Sky Premiere), we take a look back at some of his most memorable quotes…

On an alternative career: ‘If I weren’t a musician/actor, I’d be a computer engineer. I was always good at maths. I probably would have been the guy who invented the remote control if I’d been around then.’

On his earliest inspiration: ‘The greatest experience I’ve ever had in a movie theatre was watching Star Wars. It shaped how I look at the world. My imagination was so small before I went in that theatre, and there was an explosion in my head. I just couldn’t figure out how someone came up with it.’ On his relationship with wife Jada:

‘I honestly believe there is no woman for me but Jada. Of all the women I’ve met – and there have been a few – no one can handle me the way Jada does. Once you feel someone locked in on you, it’s no contest. As fine as other women can be, I’m not going anywhere. This is it. I can’t imagine what anyone else could offer.’ On the benefits of fame: ‘Being famous is such a gift for me because small things make people’s lives brighter. You just shake somebody’s hand.

You just smile and write your name, and people will talk about it for the rest of their lives.’ On his political ambitions: ‘If it was something I really committed myself to, I don’t think anything could stop me becoming President of the United States.’
