PICK OF THE DAY
Count Arthur Strong
8.30PM, BBC1
The promise of free biscuits – specifically, pink wafers – sends Arthur (Steve Delaney, right) into a wobbling frenzy of excitement in tonight’s episode, which is notable for the absence, for the most part, of his straight man, Michael, who is on holiday with Sinem. With the two lovebirds away, both Arthur and Bulent have free rein to cause no end of chaos. Arthur blames a run of good luck on joining his ‘contemporary’, Tom Cruise, in the Church of Scientology (the source of the free biscuits), while Bulent has a run of very bad luck at the poker table.
The Secret World Of Posh Pets
8PM, ITV
Tonight’s episode of the series exploring the world of luxury pets meets some of the breeders who cater to people who want rare (and expensive) animals. City boy Zane breeds Bengal cats, selling his kittens for £1,000 a pop, but it’s Bryn in Doncaster who makes the big bucks, breeding falcons for the Middle East’s super-rich.
Peter Kay’s Comedy Shuffle
9PM, BBC1
The third in a run of six episodes of Kay’s compilation show. Tonight’s highlights include one of his many Comic Relief stints and a special appearance by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, while Kay also shares with Michael Parkinson his shock at witnessing an armed raid while working at a cash-and-carry.
The Crystal Maze: Celebrity Special
9PM, CH4
Back with a wry line of patter courtesy of Richard Ayoade, the revived show sees new challengers facing the maze. This week’s team, under the captaincy of Rylan Clark-Neal, are footballer Jermaine Jenas, Hollyoaks actress Tamara Wall and comics Joel Dommett and Adil Ray.
