161. 2017 Rosário Rosado

PENÍNSULA DE SETÚBAL, PORTUGAL (£4.99, Lidl) Made from castelão and aragonês (known as tempranillo in Spain) grapes, this is packed with fruits-ofthe-forest notes. Lowish in alcohol (10.5%), it is very refreshing as well as a screamingly good bargain.

162. 2017 Jacob’s Creek, Le Petit Rosé

AUSTRALIA (£6.99, Co-op)

Made from pinot noir, grenache and mataro (mourvèdre) grapes, this is a great piece of winemaking – the aroma, flavour and freshness on the finish are all very impressive.

164.

2017 Taste The Difference Fronton Négrette Rosé

SOUTH-WEST FRANCE (£ 7, reduced to £6 from 4-24 July, Sainsbury’s) With its amazing berry notes and real gusto on the palate, this pairs well with sauces and marinades. And as for barbecued food, this wine, with its wild nose and liquorice tang, aces it.

165. 2017 La Vieille Ferme Rosé, Famille Perrin, Luberon

RHÔNE, FRANCE (£7.49, reduced to £6.49 from 4-24 July, Co-op)

This is the rosé sibling to the La Vieille Ferme white and is equally impressive. With relaxed fruit and a gloriously unhurried palate, it’s perfect for mellowing out.

166. 2017 Domaine de Sainte Rose, Coquille d’Oc Rosé

LANGUEDOC, FRANCE (£7.49, Waitrose)

This new vintage is fabulous, with juicy pomegranate, red-cherry notes and a perky dry finish. A great all-rounder for parties, it can cope with a wide repertoire of dishes.

167. 2017 Domaine Saint Felix, Grenache- Cinsault Rosé

LANGUEDOCROUSSILLON, FRANCE (£7.95, reduced to

£7.50 each by the case, leaandsandeman.co.uk)

168. 2017 Tesco finest*, Côtes de Provence Rosé

FRANCE (£8, reduced to £6.40 until 30 July, Tesco) Tesco’s entrylevel Provence rosé excels in accuracy and finesse. With fig and cherry notes and a bright, spicy finish, it will bring cheers from thousands of customers.

169. 2018 Viñalba, Malbec Rosé

MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

(£8.50, Morrisons)

On stream soon, this will inevitably be the first 2018 you’ve seen. With herb and cranberry notes and a richer mid-palate than French wines, it’s great with chargrilled or spicy food.

170. 2017 Coeur de Cardeline Rosé

CÔTES DE PROVENCE, FRANCE (£8.99, Co-op) If you enjoy smooth, gentle, silky wines with seamless fruit and no hard edges, this is for you. I like its watermelon freshness, and while the price isn’t rock-bottom, it shows that spending a little more gives increased levels of class.

171. 2017 Porta 6 Rosé

PORTUGAL (£8.99, reduced to £7.99 each on a mix six deal, Majestic)

Made from castelão, tinta roriz and syrah grapes, this is zany and modern with a great label and knockout flavour. Hectic, shouty and super-juicy, there’s a lot of fun to be had with this wine.

172. 2017 Le Grand Ballon Rosé, Touraine

LOIRE, FRANCE (£8.99, reduced to £6.69 from 11 July7 August, Waitrose) A calm, delicate wine with a faint rose and raspberry perfume.

173. 2017 Château Bel Air Perponcher Réserve Rosé

BORDEAUX, FRANCE (£9.50, thewinesociety.com) Light and fresh, I’d happily drink this with a summer Sunday lunch.

174. 2017 Berne, Grande Recolte Rosé

CÔTES DE PROVENCE, FRANCE (£10, Morrisons) Touches of pink grapefruit on the nose and a tang on the finish perfectly balance the silkiness.

175. 2017 Les Pins Couchés Rosé, Jean-Luc Colombo

RHÔNE, FRANCE (£ 10, Oddbins) This is refreshing with a pink rose petal and watermelon flavour and a very long finish.

176. 2017 Maison Castel Rosé

PROVENCE, FRANCE (£10.79, Waitrose) This is a selection of the finest fruit from Castel’s vineyards. The colour and aroma are spot on and the wild strawberry flavour is long and velvety smooth.

177. 2017 Château de Pennautier Rosé

CABARDÈS, FRANCE (£11.99, reduced to £9.99 each on a mix six deal, Majestic) This is a very unusual southern French/ Bordeaux grape combo – but it’s incredibly tasty.

179. 2017 Dunleavy Vineyards, Rosé

SOMERSET, ENGLAND (£12.95, dunleavyvineyards. co.uk) A refreshing rosé with a hedgerow and cherrystone scent, this is a cracker.

180. 2017 Château de Galoupet, Cru Classé Rosé

CÔTES DE PROVENCE, FRANCE (£13.50, thewinesociety.com) In terms of value for money, few can match the class of this rosé.

181. 2017 Mirabeau, Pure Rosé

CÔTES DE PROVENCE, FRANCE (£13.99, reduced to £10.49 until 10 July, Waitrose; £13.50, Booths) This is top-quality wine, very pure and polished, which gives it an ethereal appeal.

182. 2017 Whispering Angel, Château d’Esclans

CÔTES DE PROVENCE, FRANCE (£17.95, fromvineyardsdirect. com) The world’s most famous rosé producer has done it again! This is an accomplished stunner.
