Things look good – they’ve found a flat they like, and Max has a £30,000 inheritance from his late father to use as a deposit. Off they go to the family solicitor, who tells them that, owing to some bad decisions by Max’s father, the money is now a mere £4,000. Max’s mother takes a very laid-back view of all this.
