The star of the comedy series reveals five secrets from the set

CUCKOO Monday, 10.35pm, BBC1

- Greg Davies

1 My character in Cuckoo, Ken, is a father who’s also opened his home to his daughter Rachel’s boyfriend Dale. Dale is played by Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who is sickeningly good at everything. He had to learn to mix cocktails in this series and cracked it in 20 minutes. It had taken the guy teaching him 20 years to get that good!

2

Taylor did mess up once. In the scene where Dale mixes cocktails he threw a bottle in the air and accidentally hit the ceiling, showering glass onto

crew members below. Luckily no one was hurt.

3

I get on well with Helen Baxendale, who plays Ken’s wife Lorna, but she likes her own space. Once when we had a day off I joked that we should hang out. Without hesitation she said, ‘Let’s have a break.’

4

Ken plays guitar this series, but it’s not me

performing. You see me strumming, but they had a real guitarist play over me. I did do one of my own stunts, though, which I was pleased about – fat as I am, I don’t usually get asked to do that!

5

I introduced the game Milky Cow to the set. You have to say ‘milky cow’ in one long, drawn-out breath. The last one to run out of breath wins. Taylor liked it so much he mentioned it on The Tonight Show in the US.
