Black Hollywood:
‘They’ve Gotta Have Us’
9PM, BBC2
With films such as Moonlight and Black Panther, recent years have seen black filmmakers and actors finally taking centre stage at awards ceremonies such as the Oscars and the Golden Globes. But this success has been hard fought for, and this three-part series brings together some of the biggest names in black cinema to discuss the long and turbulent journey into the spotlight. Contributors include the 91-year-old Harry Belafonte (right), Diahann Carroll, Don Cheadle, David Oyelowo and Debbie Allen.
Casualty
8.35PM, BBC1
With Dylan at rock bottom, David and Robyn summon the one person who may actually be able to help – yes, Zsa Zsa is back (played by Sharon Gless of Cagney & Lacey fame). And she’s not the only familiar face in town – Dylan’s father, Brian, is around, too, although he can’t be relied upon to help in any sort of crisis situation.
Secrets Of
The Gladiators: Rome Unwrapped
9PM, CH5
Two thousand years after it was built, the Colosseum in Rome remains, even by today’s standards, an architectural marvel. This documentary tells the story of this extraordinary amphitheatre, designed to accommodate the Romans’ love of brutal entertainment.
Killing Eve
9.25PM, BBC1
‘I need someone to help me, I don’t want to do this any more,’ pleads Villanelle as she and Eve finally come face to face in the fifth episode. But despite her wide-eyed protestations, Eve doesn’t believe her for a moment and, sure enough, the ruthless assassin is soon up to her old tricks with her next victim. Ouch.
