Susanna, 47, has been host of Good Morning Britain (6am, ITV) for the past four years. Here’s how she became one of the most popular presenters on television…

Early life: Susanna was born on December 10, 1970 in Croydon, south London. Her father was a management consultant, her mother a nurse. The pair divorced when Susanna was just nine.

Education: She was educated at Croham Hurst School (1975-81), Croydon High School (1981-87) and St Paul’s Girls’ School (1987-89) before heading to the University of Bristol to study politics, philosophy and law (1989-92). She then undertook a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism at the Cardiff School of Journalism.

Work experience: Susanna began her career at BBC Radio Bristol, and then became a reporter for Radio 5 Live.

She later joined BBC News 24, where she spent two years as a reporter. It was here that she got her big break when a presenter on the regular 10pm programme failed to show, and Susanna (while three months pregnant with her first child) stepped into the role, which turned into a permanent position. After stints as a reporter for Breakfast News and the BBC News Channel, in 2003 she became a co-presenter of BBC Breakfast. She remained in that role until 2014, when she was tempted over to ITV to become the face of the newly launched Good Morning Britain, which she co-hosts today with Piers Morgan.

Personal life: She has three sons with her previous partner, Dominic Cotton. Although they separated in 2014, they’ve remained in the same house in Balham, London.
