Poor Brian. Even the Gospels don’t have as many different versions of Jesus’s birth as he’s had to pen. Despite being sent home by Phil during the final run of the Nativity, he sneaks into the hall to watch the show. When the cast spot him, they revert to Brian’s rap version and it goes down a storm – unlike Brian, ascending to the heavens when Phil hitches his belt to the Angel Gabriel’s harness and hoists him in the air (pictured). That school’s drama department must have one heck of a budget. In my day, you were lucky if one of the Wise Men’s gifts was the gold foil from a packet of Rolos. Phil later follows Brian to the Rovers and lunges at him. Brian should have whacked him with the manger when he had the chance. Later on, Cathy begs Yasmeen to give Brian this year’s Santa job at the community centre in order to boost his confidence. Oh, yes, because dressing up as an old fat bloke is always good for the spi rit, isn’t it? Elsewhere, while Gina obsesses about Tim, Jenny continues to obsess about what Liz may or may not still be doing with Johnny. After another row with Johnny, Jenny falls down the stairs. Where’s the Angel Gabriel when you need him?
