The ABC Murders
9PM, BBC1
Sarah Phelps’s Agatha Christie adaptations are always hotly anticipated, and this latest one is an absolute cracker.
It’s a Poirot mystery, and the man stepping into Hercule’s shoes – once worn by Peter Ustinov and David Suchet – over the next three nights is none other than the great US actor John Malkovich, who immediately stamps his own unique mark on the role. The story, which is set in the 1930s, when a serial killer is taunting the great Belgian detective, also stars Rupert Grint, Andrew Buchan and Tara Fitzgerald. Not to be missed.
