2 The number of years in film that were covered by the very first awards ceremony, held in May of 1949. Odd Man Out was named Best British Picture of 1947, with The Fallen Idol taking the gong for 1948. The original trophies were designed by artist Henry Moore.

Actress Oscar nominee. Christophe­r Plummer was 82 when he took the Best Supporting Actor Bafta and Oscar in 2012, for Beginners. 5 The record number of Baftas won by an actor – Peter Finch, whose final Bafta was posthumous – while Maggie Smith has also racked up a record five for an actress. 1 The number of Bafta winners to be voted for by the public.

The Rising Star Award has been given since 2006; the first to be so honoured was James McAvoy. Other notable winners include

Eva Green (2007), Kristen Stewart (2010), Tom Hardy (2011) and, last year, Daniel Kaluuya (centre).
