Love rat Robert Preston’s world could come crashing down this week as his secrets and lies begin to unravel. Vicky Jefferies, who’s pregnant with Robert’s baby, rightly suspects he’s got back together with his fiancée Michelle Connor. And Michelle sees Robert is behaving suspiciously, but has no idea about Vicky.

Meanwhile, Robert is busy planning his and Michelle’s wedding while telling Vicky that he’s single. According to Kerri Quinn, who plays Vicky, Robert’s sticky situation is bound to end in tears, and could lead to his and Michelle’s exit from the show.

‘Robert wants to have his cake and eat it – but he’s playing a dangerous game living a double life as Michelle and Vicky are fiery,’ says Kerri. ‘It’s cruel because they both love him, but he loves Michelle. If he could marry the two of them together with the baby that would be perfect. But he can’t.’

Kerri adds, ‘With Tristan Gemmill and Kym Marsh [who play Robert and Michelle] both set to leave the show, there’s a strong possibility this storyline is to do with it. But I haven’t seen the scripts yet.’

Robert and Vicky got together when Robert – who’d split with Michelle – helped Vicky’s wayward son Tyler to find work.

Their short relationship came as a shock to viewers, and recently she handed him a card saying, ‘You’re going to be a Dad!’

Since then, Robert’s been torn between his feelings for Michelle and wanting the child she can’t give him. Kerri says, ‘ Robert’s persuaded Vicky he can offer stability and financial help but not romance, while Vicky’s besotted

and thinks maybe she could make Robert fall in love with her.

‘Robert’s a nice guy. He didn’t cheat on Michelle, and got Vicky pregnant when they were apart. I don’t know why he doesn’t just tell her, but he makes bad decisions.’

What would Vicky do if she found out Robert was back with Michelle? ‘She’d probably keep the baby as she’s become attached to the idea, but she’d tell Michelle,’ says Kerri, 36, who’s a huge Coronation Street fan. ‘This love triangle

is classic old- school Corrie – it’s what the soap’s all about.’

While Kerri – who, like her character, is a single mother-of-one – is having the time of her life in the show, she admits it’s tough commuting from her home in Belfast to Manchester and leaving her sevenyear-old daughter Libby behind.

So how long does Kerri see herself staying in Corrie? ‘Forever,’ she laughs. ‘I’d be tickled pink if they asked me to stay.’
