WONDERFUL WILDLIFE
Watch in awe as the beauty of the natural world is captured in all its breathtaking glory
SEVEN WORLDS ONE PLANET Another triumph of filmmaking featuring Sir David Attenborough
At dawn, on a stony beach that seems to stand at the edge of the world, a lone figure stands. His red anorak is the only splash of colour against the pale horizon.
Even from a great distance, he is unmistakable. Sir David Attenborough is surveying creation.
‘Planet Earth has seven extraordinary continents, each one unique, each one full of life,’ he declares, introducing this landmark nature series. ‘This is the story of those seven worlds.’ The show features amazing landscapes – towering waterfalls, and wetlands strung with trees like cobwebs – as well as fascinating creatures such as guanacos in Chile (above).
The series promises to deliver everything that we expect from a masterpiece narrated by Attenborough... and more. BBC1, October
MONSTER CROC WRANGLER Say g’day to the real Crocodile Dundee
It is easy to see how the Australian conservationist, helicopter pilot and animal expert Matt Wright (right) has acquired the nickname of ‘the real-life Crocodile Dundee’. He has made his name charging towards animals that the rest of us would run a mile from. He glorifies in the title of ‘wildlife re-locator’ and his speciality is saving problem animals such as wild buffalo and even polar bears. His solution is to relocate them rather than let them be destroyed. In this series, Wright answers the call from farmers and fishermen to help remove extremely dangerous crocodiles. Rather him than us! Nat Geo Wild, October
