Among the tracks are Music’s Too Sad Without You, which he co-wrote and performed with Kylie Minogue, and Touchy Situation, which he penned with Bob Dylan. Jack, who is always superb when performing live, is on Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes’s show this morning. He’ll give us songs from the album ahead of his appearance at this year’s Proms In The Park.

With the volume down low and risking their lives, many Germans living under Nazi rule tuned into the German Service of the BBC. One of the big attractions was an impersonation by London-based Austrian actor Martin Miller of Hitler’s deranged rhetoric. Other comedy turns included a double act about two Nazi propagandists, and a regular sketch fronted by a fictional Berlin housewife. The German writer Timur Vermes presents some of these gems from the archives.
