BEARS ABOUT THE HOUSE
8PM, BBC2 ★★★★ Conservationist Giles Clark – whom we last saw caring for baby jaguar Maya at his home and big cat sanctuary in Kent – travels to Laos in southeast Asia to take on parental duties for tiny sun bear Mary (right). There’s a sickening illegal trade in bears in the region and
Mary was rescued from a rubbish-strewn cage, weak and malnourished. She was destined for a bear farm, where sun bears and their larger relatives, moon bears, are used for meat, fur and body parts. Giles joins the fight against this vile trade as a new bear rehabilitation centre opens.
PAUL O’GRADY: FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS
8PM, ITV ★★★★
For this special one-off, Paul is back at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, now open again after lockdown. Back in March, there was a race against time to find temporary homes for the centre’s animals before it closed – and Paul was eager to step up and play foster dad to as many animals as he could.
