ARCHIVE ON 4: LOLS ON LPS SATURDAY, 8PM, RADIO 4 ★★★★ David Walliams was, when he was a lad, an avid fan of comedy LPS, and he learnt the routines of Richard Pryor, Peter Sellers and other comedy heroes off by heart. He plays excerpts from some of those favourite albums tonight.

SUNDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT SUNDAY, 7PM, RADIO 2 ★★★★ Jazz guitarist Martin Taylor, folk guitarist Martin Simpson and classical guitarist Milos Karadaglic give a concert of great guitar music, including the hit Apache and Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.

BIRD IN THE HAND MONDAY-FRIDAY, 10.45AM, 7.45PM, RADIO 4 ★★★★ Simon seems to be the good guy, dutifully visiting the coldly snobbish mother of his late partner in this skilful psychodrama, which keeps you guessing about the motives of everyone involved.

THE INFINITE MONKEY CAGE MONDAY, 4.30PM, RADIO 4 ★★★★ Bill Bailey gets a lesson from the primatologist Jane Goodall about how to communicate with chimpanzees in this engaging episode of the series that combines science and entertainment.

PAUL SINHA’S GENERAL KNOWLEDGE WEDNESDAY, 6.30PM, RADIO 4 ★★★★ A big round of applause for everyone involved in this show. Paul Sinha, one of the quizzers from The Chase, delivers a funny routine to a 200-strong audience in a virtually recorded show that gives us the much-missed sense of interaction between performer and audience.

THE COUNTRY SHOW WITH BOB HARRIS THURSDAY, 9PM, RADIO 2 ★★★★ Scotty Mccreery, one of country music’s rising young stars, gives his British fans a live session from his Nashville home.
