Today marks the 75th anniversary of victory over Japan, the day the fighting during the Second World War finally ceased – victory in Europe had been declared in May 1945, but the war had continued in the Pacific. After a morning of live coverage from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire (right), the evening programme comes from London’s Horse Guards Parade, where the Duke of Cambridge leads the special guests paying tribute to veterans whose valour and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
