■ HOOKING UP

Let’s hope that despite Daniel’s obsession with Nicky, he remembers to buy food for Bertie. Maybe, having spent so much on hotel chats, he can’t afford to. Daniel told Adam all he does with the ‘escort’ is talk about his son, so you’d think, at some point, he’d have thought ‘...which reminds me... Heinz puréed apple!’ Who’s looking after Bertie, anyway?

Hoping that they can be friends, Daniel and Nicky end up sleeping together, which is surely a step up from being paid to wear Sinead’s grotty cardigan. When Nicky’s beaten up by a punter and lands herself in hospital (pictured), Daniel is keen to play Good Samaritan to get her off the streets and hands over a wad of cash he’s stolen from Geoff. Will Nicky accept and take up the job offer in her aunt’s B&B in Lytham? She’d be mad not to. Getting up at 6am to cook fry-ups for tourists has to be better than her current existence and certainly a lot better than having to wear that stupid cardigan. Is the costume department short on cash and unable to replace anything? Don’t be surprised to see Deirdre’s glasses turn up on someone. Undertakers are always good value, and when George orders flowers to apologise for his rudeness to Mary, she softens. Her happiness is short-lived when she and Brian fall out over the identity of a flower (yes, really) and ban each other from their respective shops. Finally, maybe we’ll get to see someone shopping in the Co-op!
