9PM, BBC1 ★★★★★
In the second part of this marvellous adaptation of David Nicholls’s novel, poor Douglas (Tom Hollander) is still trying to win back the love of wife Connie and son Albie (Saskia Reeves and Tom Taylor, right) on their grand tour across Europe. But things go badly wrong when they reach Amsterdam and, after yet another family row, Albie takes off on his own – and now it’s up to Douglas to find his son and bring him home. It’s a journey that takes him to Venice, where he meets none other than The Killing’s Sofie Grabol, playing the newly divorced Freja, who is in need of some company…
COUNTRYFILE
5.45PM, BBC1 ★★★★
Ellie Harrison and Joe Crowley are wandering through the Lake District to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the poet William Wordsworth’s birth – as well as the 50th birthday of the local Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue team. Adam Henson, meanwhile, sees if he can get a good price for his rams online.
MORTIMER & WHITEHOUSE: GONE FISHING
8PM, BBC2 ★★★★
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse cast off for the final time as they return to the Wye in Herefordshire, Bob’s favourite river, to fish for chub. But of course, the pair’s genial conversations, which include a discussion about mental health, are the real catch of the day.
LOUIS THEROUX: LIFE ON THE EDGE
9PM, BBC2 ★★★★
Louis has saved his best for last: in the final episode, he recalls his visits to the controversial Westboro Baptist Church, and finds out if its members still hold their hateful views. The original film, The Most Hated Family In America, is available on iplayer and Britbox. MIKE MULVIHILL

DUTY FREE
4.30PM, FORCES TV ★★★
A repeat from the start for this 1980s comedy about holiday adultery, which is surprisingly vicious when you look back on it. Keith Barron played the married David, who was forever sneaking off with Linda (Joanna Van Gyseghem, left, with Barron). (Sky 181, Freeview 96, Freesat 165, Virgin 274)
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL
7.15PM, SKY ARTS ★★★★
It takes a big production to fill London’s Royal Albert Hall, but this 25th anniversary staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical does the trick. The moment when the Phantom makes his entrance – to that familiar music – is spine-tingling.
BLACK CLASSICAL MUSIC: THE FORGOTTEN HISTORY
9PM, BBC4 ★★★★
Suzy Klein (left) and Lenny Henry go on an odyssey of discovery in this new one-off. Their quest begins in Tudor times, when talented African visitors such as the trumpeter John Blanke found great success in Britain. Featuring the Chineke! Orchestra.
KATE & KOJI
10PM, ITV3 ★★★★
A repeat for this deft studio sitcom from veteran writers Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton (Outnumbered), which is reminiscent of Rising Damp. Brenda Blethyn (left) stars as a cafe owner who has her prejudices challenged by an asylum seeker who stretches out cups of tea in her cafe. He turns out to be a doctor, and is soon in high demand…
I AM ELIZABETH SMART
10PM, LIFETIME ★★★
At one of the most harrowing points in this one-off drama about her kidnapping by a religious fanatic, the real Elizabeth Smart (left) comes on screen and says: ‘Do you want it to stop? So did I.’ This is very much her story, told her way, and that gives it an uncommon power. RW
