■ PRODIGAL SON

Has anyone ever seen Billy write a sermon? Pick up a pen? Read a Bible? His latest work avoidance scheme has been tracking down Todd, who this week turns up, lurking in the shadows. When he emerges, viewers will be quick to notice he’s had a head transplant. Leaving a note for Eileen, he arranges to meet her at an old warehouse (pictured). Oh no! Not the old warehouse! What could possibly go wrong? It’s the soap equivalent of the top floor in a block of flats or a multi-storey (why do all baddies live on the top floor in TV drama and why does everyone go to the top of a car park when it’s clear, while being chased down by the cops, there are hundreds of alternative spaces? Just asking). The errant son tells his mum that he’s in danger and, lo and behold, there’s a menacing figure stepping out from the shadows. Having been warned by Lenny the PI, Sean tries to alert Eileen, but is he too late? Poor Eileen. She inadvertently entertains trouble like a flea circus in a cattery.

Tracy sees sense (for once) and pulls the plug on the sale of Street Cars and Preston’s Petals, determined not to throw their future away on Leanne’s concerted efforts to save Oliver by going through the courts. It’s a very tough storyline that we could do without during these troubled times, so will Tim and Sally’s wedding provide light relief? I predict low-flying vol-au-vents.
