Blithe Spirit (1945) David Lean’s spirited version of Noel Coward’s play, with Rex Harrison as the chap hounded by his late wife. Margaret Rutherford is the medium unleashing the disgruntled lady. Britbox. The Cat And The Canary (1978) A remake of the silent horror classic about a moneygrabbing family, a will reading and a potentially haunted house. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis (centre) are the fellas you might want to call if there’s something strange in your

Beetlejuice (1988) In Tim Burton’s ghoulish comedy, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis are the ghosts learning how to haunt their house from a ‘bioexorcist’ with an attitude problem. Buy or rent on Amazon/sky Store.

Ghost (1990) Whoopi Goldberg won an Oscar for her comic turn in this romance. She plays the bogus medium receiving a real call from beyond the grave. Netflix, Sky On Demand/now TV.
