HHHH Dolphins love the waters around Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on the northeast coast of America, but every year, hundreds of them become stranded on the Cape’s beaches. Ben Wyatt reports how locals, using a new alert system, are able to steer the dolphins back out to sea, and how scientists are analysing marine life communication to help to protect dolphins.

DAMILOLA: THE BOY NEXT DOOR

9PM, CH4 ★★★★ This moving film follows radio DJ Yinka Bokinni (right) back to the North Peckham Estate where she grew up and where, in 2000, she befriended a boy called Damilola Taylor. Months later, ten-year-old ‘Dami’ was killed in a senseless act of violence.

The media portrayed the estate as a warzone, but here, she shows us a different view, of a strong, supportive community whose children – including Yinka, Top Boy actor Ashley Walters and many others – have grown up to achieve great things, just as Damilola could have done.

INSIDE THE TOWER OF LONDON

8PM, CH5 ★★★ During lockdown in March, the gates clanked shut, and this episode follows the reopening of the historic London landmark after its longest closure in 75 years. After months without visitors, ravenmaster Chris has to make sure the birds are ready to mix with the public again before paying guests arrive.

HENRY VIII: ENDGAME

9PM, CH5 ★★★

The concluding part of this fascinating series on the Tudor monarch looks at his later years, his sixth marriage, his death and his legacy. Palace cooks served up ever increasing portions, with exotic dishes of porpoise and seal on the menu. The effects of his diet on his waistline, his health – and his mood – were plain to see.

THE NOUGHTIES

10PM, BBC2 ★★★

This week, host Angela Scanlon is joined by the BBC’S media editor Amol Rajan and Newsnight’s Emma Barnett to take a light-hearted look at the cultural highlights of 2001. It was the year that Daniel Radcliffe made his film debut as Harry Potter, and Ricky Gervais’s David Brent made Slough the place to be. SA

THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL

9PM, BBC4 ★★★★

John Simpson (left) reflects on his reporting of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and wonders if he missed any clues as to how Russia would become such a hostile global force again, years after the optimism of that moment. During that reflection, he provides a deep insight into the time.

BLINDSPOT

9PM, SKY WITNESS ★★★

SALVAGE HUNTERS

9PM, QUEST ★★★

Drew is in Brockworth Court in Gloucestershire, which dates from the 1290s and is said to have been visited by Henry VIII (left) and Anne Boleyn in 1535. It also has more than its fair share of clutter, and owner Tim Wiltshire is keen to thin that out – and Drew has his pick of the gems.

MEET THE RICHARDSONS

10PM, DAVE ★★★

A repeat for this comedy about the life of Lucy Beaumont and her husband, neurotic comedian Jon Richardson. The people you see are real – their daughter, the neighbours, Bernie Clifton (left) – and it’s their house, but the show is scripted, and sails on the couple’s considerable chemistry.

10PM, 5STAR ★★★

Brian De Palma’s original spin on Stephen King’s novel was powerful stuff, so this remake has a lot to live up to. It stars Chloe Grace Moretz in the title role, getting the tone of timid vengeance just right, while Julianne Moore plays her demented mother. Even so, it’s a remake and not a revolution.
