OUTMATCHED

-

9PM, FOX ★★★

A US family sitcom with a traditional feel, but a fresh angle. It’s about two parents (Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson, left) who feel desperately inferior to their three gifted offspring, and take refuge in the basement. They also have a fourth child, who is happily ungifted (‘Noses are like mouths… they eat smells,’ she ponders).

THE UNDISCOVERED KENNETH WILLIAMS

★★★★ This engagingly offbeat profile comes from Victor Lewis-smith, and uses a cleverly assembled mix of rarely seen footage, recordings and writings to shine a fresh light on the Carry On veteran (left). It was originally shown as part of a series of films that also tackled Peter Sellers and Tony Hancock.

ATTENBOROUGH AT 90

10PM, BBC4 ★★★★

Made to mark David Attenborough’s (left) birthday in 2016, this tribute celebrates his knowledge and passion for the natural world, and how it has changed how we see it. He chats to Kirsty Young in front of a studio audience, with fans including Michael Palin and Chris Packham. RW

Moving back and forth in time, Sarah delivers a dazzling monologue about life, death, fate, love and hamsters. Brilliant.
