CORONATION STREET

-

■ UNDERHAND UNDERWORLD

And so, farewell to Geoff: never has a body bag been so cheered as it was last night; but is Ray going to take his role as the new bad boy of the street? You know when Gary hits the moral high ground, someone must be really, really bad. Never mind that Gary’s a murderer, hits women and, well... anyone who stands still long enough. He’s also a liar and a cheat and has his hair cut by a combine harvester (judge people by who they mix with; that’s what I say); as a sex pest, Ray is apparently several rungs below Gary on the morality ladder – and that’s why he now won’t sell him Underworld. Debbie tries to persuade him (pictured) but gets nowhere, so comes up with a new plan. All she does is incur the wrath of Ray who, furious that she didn’t consult him, says from now on he’ll make the decisions. So far, the only decent decision he seems capable of making is which suit to put on in the morning, so it’s doubtful the locals need to worry. Gary does, though, when Sarah calls Crimestoppers and tells them about the body buried in Beacon Woods. Will Gary get there in time to dig it up? Elaine has a shock when Tim asks her to move in, but Sally thinks he’s rushing it (no surprise there; she’ll be moaning in no time that there are three people in that Jacuzzi). Paula Wilcox (Elaine) has always been an exceptional actor, but she’s knocking it out of the park as Geoff’s first abused wife.
