It used to be streets ahead

Watching Coronation Street: 60 Unforgettable Years on ITV, I was struck by how much humour there was in the early days. You were never short of a good laugh with characters such as Minnie Caldwell, Ena Sharples and Martha Longhurst [all pictured]. Although the acting is still brilliant, the soap has become a platform for topical issues. I long for the old Corrie.
