ON DEMAND CHOICE: Wandavision

Marvel’s new drama starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany arrives on Disney+ today. It’s a bit different to previous superhero TV shows – here’s what to expect…

What’s it about? This is not a standard Marvel superhero story. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame , it finds the sorceress Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen, centre), living a seemingly perfect 1950s sitcom life with Vision (Paul Bettany), her android boyfriend, who died in the penultimate Avengers film, Infinity War. So, how is Vision alive? Who are the couple’s neighbours? Is this all happening in Wanda’s head? And what does it mean when cracks start to appear in their Bewitched-style existence?

It’s worth watching… If you’re after something different. Marvel has always retained the capacity to surprise, and this inventive show looks likely to up the ante for its TV efforts so far. It’s the starting gun for a rush of new Marvel shows on Disney+, including The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (March 19), Loki (May), Ms Marvel and Hawkeye.
