(2011) 15 u 9.30PM, BBC2 ★★★★ Gary Oldman is superb as understated secret agent George Smiley in this sterling adaptation of John le Carre’s novel. It is pleasingly cool and restrained, tricky and sombre – a welcome change of pace from the hijinks of other, more action-led spy sagas.
