WHY IT’S GOOD TO FAST FOR 12 HOURS
You can intensify the fat-burning and health benefits of the Fast 800 programme by limiting your eating to a 12-hour window (such as 8am8pm). This is called Time Restricted Eating (TRE) and there is evidence that going 12 or even 14 hours without food is good for your health and your weight-loss success.
Pioneering researchers such as Dr Satchin Panda at the Salk Institute in California have discovered that by giving your body downtime from the work of eating and digesting, you can unlock powerful repair pathways that protect against illness, ageing and obesity. There’s no need to fast all day – just skipping breakfast or eating an early evening meal is enough to extend your night-time ‘fast’. TRE gives the body a rest from the work of metabolising food and allows it to focus on other functions, such as ‘spring-cleaning’ old and damaged cells.
