VAST, BEAUTIFUL... AND MOODY

Morecambe Bay itself is almost a character in the show. ‘It’s beautiful, it’s vast and each little section of it is completely different,’ says Morven Christie. ‘You get these beautiful sunsets [pictured] and sunrises over the water, but then there are moments where it looks like it’s closing in on you.

‘It’s quite powerful in terms of imagery and it definitely changes the mood of the town. There was one scene we shot on the promenade on a really sunny day, and it felt like it was a festival in the middle of summer and everybody from the town was out and about enjoying the weather. Then two days later it was freezing and foggy. That feeds the spirit of the place – it feeds the spirit of the stories really well.’
