7AM, 5PM, RADIO 4 EXTRA ★★★★ Miles Jupp plays the cookery writer and food expert Damien Trench in this repeat of the fourth series of this successful sitcom. Trench earns his living editing a food supplement for a Sunday newspaper. He’s a bit of a food snob, but when he gets an offer to present a TV series about ‘street food’, Trench wonders if it’s time to tuck into some less fancy grub.

Mermaid-like creatures swim through the legends and folk tales of countries Isy Suttie (11.30am, Radio 4) with coastlines, interactin­g with humans. Bridget Kendall is joined by writers from Hawaii, the Orkney Isles and Africa to hear tales of mermaids and other sea spirits.

11.30AM, RADIO 4 (FM) ★★★ You can buy wearable pulsating devices that are said to be good for stress; you can get yourself gongs and singing bowls that, when hit, are thought to give off healing vibrations, or you can listen to ‘the most relaxing piece of music in the world’. The writer and comedian Isy Suttie explores a number of audio routes that claim to be able to take her into a place of great serenity. This morning, she reports on whether or not any of them work.

8PM, CLASSIC FM ★★★ The tenor Jussi Bjorling and baritone Robert Merrill sing Bizet’s rightly popular and meltingly beautiful The Pearl Fishers’ Duet, while Jessye Norman sings an Agnus Dei for solo soprano and organ, in this selection of music by Bizet.
