SUSAN CALMAN’S GRAND DAY OUT IN THE COTSWOLDS

8PM, CH5 ★★★★

The fourth stop on Susan’s fun-filled road trip around the country in her vintage camper van is the beautiful Cotswolds. She does a somewhat successful test run of the famous Tetbury Woolsack Races, carrying a 35lb sack above her head. On to a pastime that’s more to her taste, Susan (right) visits the Pudding Club, devoted to nostalgic desserts. She also crafts her own silver spoon, and visits an Indian palace unexpectedly built in the middle of the Cotswolds.

JAMIE AND JIMMY’S FRIDAY NIGHT FEAST

8PM, CH4 ★★★

Acting legend Susan Sarandon swaps glitzy Hollywood for Southend Pier as the boys help her to re-create her favourite dishes and share some fun stories. Inspired by her beloved New Orleans, they whip up a delicious gumbo, and then a chicken dish oozing with pesto in a nod to her Italian heritage.

THE WORLD’S MOST SCENIC RAILWAY JOURNEYS

9PM, CH5 ★★★

The Italian Riviera is steeped in luxury, so what better way to explore it than in a vintage train? It travels from La Spezia to the iconic coastal villages of Cinque Terre. From there, it goes to Santa Margherita, and ends in the port city of Genoa, with some very interesting history lessons along the way.

NOT GOING OUT

9.30PM, BBC1 ★★★★

After Lucy reconnects with a school friend on Facebook, Lee decides to make a profile of his own. But when his ex-girlfriend from more than 20 years ago gets in touch and comes round for a catchup, Lucy gets rather jealous when she sees their bond. Is there reason for her to regret encouraging them to meet? TJ

A LIFE AMONG MONKEYS

8.35PM, PBS AMERICA ★★★ Perky new documentary about the toque macaques (left) who roam temple ruins in an abandoned city that was once Sri Lanka’s capital. Dr Wolfgang Dittus has been following their movements for half a century – it’s easy to forget how much work goes into such seemingly frothy films.

MICAH RICHARDS: TACKLING RACISM

9PM,

SKY DOCUMENTARIES ★★★★ For this enlightening documentary, the former England and Premier League player Micah Richards (left) explores the true extent of racism in British football. Micah, a careful but passionate advocate, also looks for solutions. (Sky 114, Virgin 277)

NCIS

9PM, FOX ★★★★

Season 18 continues in fine style with a flashback to the day Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Ducky first met. It involved someone being locked in a trunk, a lot of day drinking, and an encounter with nasty characters that comes back to bite Gibbs in the present. Young Gibbs is played by Sean Harmon – Mark’s son (left).
