TOUGH CHALLENGES

Each week the celebrity cooks are faced with two challenges, starting with Mary’s ‘Ultimate’ round in which they produce their signature dish for special occasions. Then it’s Chris’s ‘Rustle Up’ challenge, with an hour to create a midweek masterpiece using a surprise ingredient and a limited larder. Those who haven’t impressed must then face Angela’s ‘Eliminator’, in which they have to follow one of Angela’s recipes before the judges – who taste blind – decide who goes home. Falling at the first hurdle in episode one last week was Desiree Burch after her Swiss roll failed to make the grade, while even the patriotic fervour of Gareth Thomas (inset), who made a Welsh egg instead of a Scotch egg, failed to get him over the line in episode two.
