Shot to smithereens, Peter Weller’s Detroit cop is rebuilt in a lab to become a one-man law enforcement machine. Paul Verhoeven’s violent sci-fi action thriller delivers comicbook thrills, but also critiques consumerism and corporate greed. Remade in 2014, this is still the one to watch.
