Liz Harvey from Sheffield brings in a box of bits that, if assembled, would be a clockwork pigeon. It’s in pieces because Liz herself tried to fix it, but there’s hope yet for her grandmother’s curio as mechanical organ expert David Burville (right, with Jay and Liz) gets to work on the pigeon’s tiny bellows so that it can strut and coo again. There’s also a broken guitar that, don’t fret, will play again.

8PM, ITV ★★★ Julia continues her tour of the West Country, taking in a dramatic stretch of coastline from the comforts of Salcombe to the wild cliffs of Prawle Point. First, she fuels up for her walk with some world-famous Salcombe crab, before keeping an eye out for shipwrecks with the National Coastwatch.
