9PM, BBC1 ★★★★ This two-part special is a treat for fans as it sees the return of two beloved characters, Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) and original fish-out-of-water detective Richard Poole (Ben Miller) – but you’ll have to keep watching to see how they fit in. First, there’s a murder to solve when a renowned concert pianist is shot dead at home. It looks like a burglary, but Neville sees through the ruse – while a big clue makes the case a very personal one for Commissioner Patterson (Don Warrington, right) when one of his friends is put in danger. Concludes tomorrow.

8PM, BBC2 ★★★ In this spin-off from the popular home makeover series that uses innovative technology to create virtual mock-ups, people’s outdoor spaces are transformed. First up, host Angela Scanlon meets a Hertfordshire family with a boring, L-shaped plot. Will they choose the romantic design, or the Japanese-style creation?

ADRIAN DUNBAR’S COASTAL IRELAND

8PM, CH5 ★★★★ We’re used to seeing him investigating ‘bent coppers’ in Line Of Duty, but the actor shows a warmer side in this new series. He meets chef Darina Allen in County Cork, sails to the Skellig Islands – a Star Wars setting – and, in County Sligo, he pays homage to the poet W.B. Yeats.

THE CHASERS ROAD TRIP: TRAINS, BRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES

9PM, ITV ★★★★ In the final part of Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty and Mark Labbett’s big trip, the trio go across Japan. They look at the future of intelligence, with cutting-edge robots, AI surveillance and a self-solving puzzle cube – and lots of laughs along the way. TESSA JONES
