PICK OF THE DAY
LONG LOST FAMILY
9PM, ITV ★★★★
In tonight’s remarkable new episode, Claire Martin (right, with Davina Mccall) is on a major detective mission. She knows she flew into Heathrow in December 1962, and that she was one of 100 children adopted by UK families from overcrowded Hong Kong orphanages. That time in the orphanage left its scars, as Claire says she rocked herself to sleep every night until the age of 18. Now, so many years later in Hong Kong, can she hope to find trace of the parents who abandoned her? There’s a twist coming, but not where you might expect.
DEVON AND CORNWALL
8PM, CH4 ★★★
On this week’s sunny escape, we head to the village of Polperro, where the harbour master prepares for the arrival of a huge new storm gate. Over in Bodmin, Will hopes to pass his steam train driver’s test, and there’s a surprise in store for visitors to Widdecombe Fair – ice cream made from goat’s milk. How will that go down?
CELEBRITY BEST HOME COOK
9PM, BBC1 ★★★★ Seven celebrities remain after the shock decision not to send anyone home, and this merry septet are challenged by Mary Berry to make the ultimate Sunday roast in two and a half hours. ‘Times are going to get tough,’ warns Mary, but Ed Balls looks confident as he rolls out the roast he does every other Sunday at home.
UNDERCOVER POLICE: HUNTING PAEDOPHILES
9PM, CH4 ★★★★
In every episode of this hardhitting new three-parter, we follow a police officer who poses as a paedophile online to seek out abusers, and it’s shocking how easy making contact seems to be. The series also explores the terrible toll this work takes on the officers involved. ROBIN WIGGS
