STONEHENGE: THE LOST CIRCLE REVEALED 9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

For centuries, the origins, meaning and purpose of the stone circle of Stonehenge have been debated; now, Professor Alice Roberts (right) leads this special one-off that promises to rewrite its history. She looks at the research of a very dedicated team who have worked out that the stones have been rearranged a number of times, and have even found the quarries where they were mined. And, in a staggering reveal, the team believe they’ve discovered the first home of the circle – 140 miles away, in south Wales.

SUSAN CALMAN’S GRAND DAY OUT IN THE HIGHLANDS 8PM, CH5 ★★★

In a fitting end to Susan’s big adventure, she’s in her native Scotland to show off the delights of the Highlands and its world-famous hill-walking routes. She kayaks on Loch Lomond, bravely goes quad biking, and visits an odd Iron Age-style dwelling on stilts.

DEATH IN PARADISE 9PM, BBC1 ★★★★

All sorts of nonsense can happen on a stag do, but a murder is most unexpected. After four friends celebrate aboard a boat, the owner is found on shore with a harpoon through his chest – but with the friends being less than helpful, can Neville work out whodunnit? Or will flirtations with Florence distract him?

BIG WEEKENDS WITH GREGG WALLACE 9PM, CH5 ★★★

He’s swapping the kitchen for culture as Masterchef’s Gregg is on a mission to show us the delights of weekend getaways abroad. First up, Gregg is in artsy Barcelona. He dines at a restaurant that serves tinned food, takes a Picasso-style painting class, and enjoys the Gracia street festival.
