FORENSICS: THE REAL CSI

9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

This returning series follows real investigations and the hunt for evidence by forensic science teams that can make or break a conviction. The first case takes place in a quiet suburb of Birmingham, where a man has called 999 to say he has killed his wife. When taken into custody, the blood-soaked man claims that he doesn’t remember what happened.

So, it’s over to crime scene coordinator Jo Ward (right) and the team to follow the trail of evidence and map out every detail of the scene, hoping to find not just the method, but also the motive.

JOANNA LUMLEY’S HOME SWEET HOME

8PM, ITV ★★★★

For the second of three episodes, Joanna continues her semi-autobiographical celebration of all things home-grown in Scotland and Northern Ireland. She starts in the Outer Hebrides, before heading to Eilean Donan Castle, where she shot her very first episode of The New Avengers.

BEN FOGLE: NEW LIVES IN THE WILD 9PM, CH5

★★★ Ben’s final rat race escape of this series is in County Galway, on Ireland’s west coast, where 40-year-old Mark Boyle has gone off-grid. He’s not only turned his back on city life, but on money and technology, too, and his frugal life is filled with fishing, foraging, sheep wrangling and writing about his experiences – by candlelight.

FIRST DATES: VALENTINE’S

The Manchester restaurant celebrates Valentine’s Day with a big plateful of romance for its hopeful singletons. Alexandra and Tom both work in the wedding industry, but will bells ring for them? Plus, retired politician Roger is looking for a travel companion and his date, Jean, has clocked up plenty of air miles. SA
