EXTRAORDINARY ESCAPES WITH SANDI TOKSVIG
9PM, CH4 ★★★★
Take a slow wander with
Sandi (right) through Britain’s stunning landscapes and most peaceful sanctuaries. Over the course of this new series, she is joined by four female friends – food guru Prue Leith, writer and actress Jessica Hynes, comedian Sindhu Vee and, first up, actress Alison Steadman. Together, they delight in their beautiful surroundings – this week, the wilds of Suffolk – while Sandi delivers quite interesting facts in her funny, disarming style and has, with her companions, the lovely, easy rapport of dear friends.
TRUMP TAKES ON THE WORLD
9PM, BBC2 ★★★★ This new, three-part series looks back at Donald Trump’s Presidency, focusing on his bombastic approach to foreign policy. With commentary from some of his former advisers, as well as the leaders with whom he clashed, this opener looks at his first year and a half in office, and the dogged pursuit of his ‘America first’ agenda.
THE BAY
9PM, ITV ★★★★ After last week’s shocking cliffhanger, Lisa and her colleagues are reeling, and an outside team is called in to investigate the hit-andrun. Discoveries point to the involvement of some ruthless, dangerous people and, as more Marshbrook family secrets emerge, the web surrounding Stephen’s murder looks increasingly tangled.
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF SHANNON MATTHEWS
9PM, CH5 ★★★
During the freezing early months of 2008, a close-knit community in Dewsbury,
West Yorkshire was rocked by the disappearance of a nine-year-old schoolgirl. This two-part documentary charts the search for Shannon, and its unconscionable outcome. Concludes tomorrow. SA
