WARTIME BRITAIN: KEEP CALM & CARRY ON
9PM, CH5 ★★★★
Immerse yourself in Second World War pluck and spirit as experts, historians and volunteers (including Louise Dekker, right) demonstrate how, as a nation, we mucked in and made the most of things during the war. From ration recipes to upcycling, home haircuts to homeschooling, there are parallels between that bygone age of austerity and now as the fight against Covid-19 continues. But while there are useful tips on offer, some wartime endeavours are best left in the past. Concludes tomorrow.
THE REPAIR SHOP
8PM, BBC1 ★★★★★ Visiting the workshop this week are four more members of the public, clutching their broken, tired and much-loved heirlooms. There’s an oldfashioned ice-cream maker, a Spanish barrel organ, a portable 1950s record player and a leather document case – all with stories behind them that will tug at the heartstrings.
THEBAY
9PM, ITV ★★★★
In her personal life, Lisa doesn’t really like to play it straight, and while sleeping with her ex, Andy (Joe Absolom), might not have been the best move, at least he isn’t a suspect in the crime she’s investigating. This penultimate episode sheds an even murkier light on the dealings of the Marshbrook family – and patriarch Bill.
EXTRAORDINARY ESCAPES WITH SANDI TOKSVIG
9PM, CH4 ★★★★
This week, Sandi’s getaway buddy is Jessica Hynes, the Spaced co-writer and actress, who will be guiding Sandi around her home country of Kent. Their first bed for the night is inside a lovingly restored windmill, and then it’s off the Isle of Sheppey for a luxury stay in nature. SA
