A mental health experiment has been carried out in Norway over the past five years. A number of facilities across the country are offering medication-free treatment to people with serious psychiatri­c conditions.

The scheme is based on evidence that the outcome for patients on drugs is generally worse than for patients who have been weaned off medication. Lucy Proctor hears about the scheme, and listens to psychiatri­sts who believe this is a dangerous experiment. SJ
