NEW ON DEMAND SERVICE: Star on Disney+

-

Star is a new section on Disney+ filled with US dramas that appeal to adults, to complement

the service’s mostly family-focused selection. It launches today, and here is our guide…

What is Star, where can I watch it, and how much does it cost? Star is a new

section inside the Disney+ app, like Marvel, Pixar or National Geographic. It is a

library of US dramas, many familiar to UK viewers, but some not, and more than 250 mainstream films – most exclusive to Disney+ – and its addition comes with a monthly price rise, from £5.99 to £7.99.

What are the new shows? There are four

launching today, new episodes of which will then arrive every Friday. They are Big Sky (centre), a

twisty Montana-set drama from Big Little Lies’ David E. Kelley; Helstrom, a dark Marvel series (see page 23 for both); highschool drama Love, Victor; and Solar Opposites,a witty animation about aliens in the suburban US. Look out, too, for Terriers, a well-regarded private eye drama from 2010 that’s never been shown over here, and which arrives as part of the wider Star library.

And the other shows? In that wider library, these series are now exclusive to Star: 24, Bones, Buffy, Castle, Feud: Bette And Joan, Firefly, Lie To Me, Revenge, Scrubs, Ugly Betty. Non-exclusive shows include: Alias, Brothers & Sisters, Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Modern Family, Prison Break, Scandal, The X Files.
