Cary Grant and Myrna Loy are the couple who struggle to keep their marriage from collapsing at the same rate as the house they are trying to turn into a home. This would be the blueprint for many a future self-build farce, and Grant and Loy’s chemistry is electric.

More than a decade after the last film, Renee Zellweger steps back into the tangled romantic web weaved by the hapless Londoner. Now in her 40s, Bridget is single again and, in her endearingly chaotic style, finds herself pregnant by one of two possible dads.

GANGSTER SQUAD (2013) 15 ♦

10.30PM, ITV4 ★★★ A fantastic cast and a script written by a former homicide detective should give this period crime drama both star power and authenticity, but sadly, it falls flat. It’s the story of mob boss Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) and his ongoing war against the LA cops who want to see him behind bars.
