PICK OF THE DAY
MCDONALD & DODDS
8PM, ITV ★★★★ Back for three new episodes comes the light-hearted crime drama starring Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins as efficient DCI Mcdonald and fastidious DS Dodds (right). Their first case involves a group of friends who were big in the 1980s, played by four stars who made it big in the 1980s: Martin Kemp, Patsy Kensit, Cathy Tyson and Rupert Graves. Taking to the skies above Bath in a hot-air balloon, five go up, but only four make it down alive. Enter air accident investigator Roy Gilbert (Rob Brydon), a man who can almost out-anorak Dodds.
ATTENBOROUGH’S LIFE IN COLOUR
7PM, BBC1 ★★★★ David Attenborough is our guide to the role that colour plays in the natural world. From the shimmering 6ft tail feathers of peacocks and tiny aerobatic hummingbirds with dazzling iridescent neck feathers to the bright faces (and bums) of mandrills, it’s the males of the species who are often the best dressed.
A NEW LIFE IN THE SUN: ROAD TRIP
7PM, CH4 ★★★ Fred Sirieix hits the road to meet Brits who have relocated to sunny locations overseas. He starts in Andalusia in southern Spain, where he meets three sets of expats who are running boutique hotels in some truly stunning locations. It all looks lovely – but for some, the work-life balance can still prove elusive.
BLOODLANDS
9PM, BBC1 ★★★★ After the chilling discovery on the island, DCI Tom Brannick (James Nesbitt) and DS Mcgovern are still under pressure to find former IRA man Pat Keenan and uncover the link to Goliath. But Tom isn’t the only one looking for the truth, and this ruthlessly efficient series is about to take a shocking turn.
