TODAY’S RADIO
GOOD MORNING SUNDAY 6AM, RADIO 2 ★★★★★
Adjoa Andoh wore the sparkling tiara of Lady Danbury to great effect in Netflix’s Bridgerton. Adjoa has had a glittering career, particularly in the theatre, but this racy costume drama has taken her to another level. She joins Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad to talk about her family, her career, climate activism – and what
Lady Danbury might do next.
SWEENEY TODD AND THE STRING OF PEARLS 3PM, RADIO 4 ★★★★★
A seafaring man with a dog goes for a shave at a Fleet Street barber shop; it will be a very close shave – and his last one. Martin Jarvis plays the Demon Barber, whose customers are made into pies, in this two-part horror thriller, which delivers the Sweeney Todd story in a rollicking manner, without Sondheim’s meandering music.
C2C – COUNTRY TO COUNTRY REVISITED ★★★★
7PM, RADIO 2
This year’s Country To Country festival has been cancelled. To keep us going, Bob Harris has put together an archive concert that includes London sets from Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood and other stars. There’ll be more great archive country music concerts on Radio 2 this week – but most of them will be in the middle of the night, when most decent country music fans will have hit the hay.
BARRY HUMPHRIES 9PM, RADIO 2 ★★★★
Barry Humphries is looking after Dame Edna’s yacht, turning the vessel into pirate station Radio Phyllis – his version of Radio Caroline. Barry will take us back to the abdication crisis of 1936 and play some musical marvels and rarities of the period. Elsie Carlisle, Isham Jones and Marion Harris are among the featured artistes. SJ
